LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 20th edition of the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball All-American Teams Monday afternoon, with Southern Virginia's Christian Sheaffer being named to the First Team and Tyler Sheaffer an Honorable Mention.
Christian Sheaffer is just the third member of the Southern Virginia University Men's Volleyball program to receive First Team honors, joining Paul Clark (2019) and Nahuel Recabarren (2019-'21).
The sophomore outside led the Knights with 3.96 kills/set, ranking eighth among Division III players. He reached double-digit kills in 15 of 22 matches, with a season and career high of 28 coming against Cal Lutheran. Christian also ranks in the top 40 in aces per set with .548 (22nd) and hitting percentage with .346 (31st), while his 4.9 points per set are good for sixth in Division III.
Tyler Sheaffer joins Daniel Aina (2019) and Samuel Candland (2021) as the third Knight named Honorable Mention All-American. The senior setter averaged over ten assists per set, which puts him fifth in the country. His 10.01 assists/set also sets a new program record, while his season-high 53 assists coming in the First Round match of the NCAA Division III tournament against Springfield ties for the third most in a single game in program history.
