BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University Men's Soccer team got their season underway Friday afternoon against a talented Dickinson College team, falling 2-0.
After losing Dallin Chapell due to injury early in the first half, Goalkeeper Treyden Stringham stepped up and brought in 6 saves to stop the momentum for the Red Devils.
The Red Devils scored an early goal, but the Knights battled hard on the defensive end to head into half time down just one.
After the halftime break, the Knights started to put more pressure on the ball, playing out of the back and through the midfield.
Ammon Lewis rattled off two shots on goal, but the Red Devil defense held strong, adding another goal from Tyson Burling sealed the win for Dickinson.
The Knights head to Ferrum, Virginia this Saturday, September 2nd, taking on the Panthers of Ferrum College with kick-off set for 4:00 pm.
