LEXINGTON, VA - The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team faced Washington & Lee University on Tuesday night, resulting in a 0-2 loss.
The match's first goal came in the 51st minute when the General's Sophie Berman found the back of the net, putting her team ahead 1-0. The lead was extended in the 74th minute as Cameron Grainger capitalized on an assist by Sarah Zimmerman, securing the victory for Washington & Lee with a final score of 2-0.
The Southern Virginia women's soccer team fought hard throughout the match, displaying strong defensive efforts from
Hailey Gadd,
Ella Thomas, and
Annalise Huber, who thwarted multiple chances from the Generals.Â
Offensively,
Maci Rackham and
Makinna Winterton presented the team with two scoring opportunities with shots on goal but could not get them past W&L's Sydney Smith.Â
Southern Virginia will regroup and look ahead to their upcoming matches next week against the University of Lynchburg on the road and returning home for a conference matchup against Methodist.Â
