BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team fought for another win in an action-filled match against the Saints of Marymount University.
The Saints dominated possession for most of the game, with a penalty kick goal from Reece Ventura taking the lead for Marymount. However, the Knights made the most of their opportunities and were able to score when Benjamin Simister tied the game before halftime, equalizing the score at 1-1.
In the second half, Southern Virginia took the initiative and capitalized on the transition as Benjamin Simister found the back of the net for his second goal of the game.
The Knights held on to the lead with excellent plays from Southern Virginia Goalkeeper Treyden Stringham and an energized defensive effort from the team's defense, sealing a 2-1 win.
Southern Virginia has now won three games in a row and looks to carry that momentum as they travel to Swannanoa, North Carolina on Thursday, Sep 21st, to face Warren Wilson College in a non-conference contest with kickoff slated for 3:00 P.M.
