STAUNTON, VA. — In their third game in four days, the Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team traveled north to take on Mary Baldwin University, sweeping the Fighting Squirrels 3-0.
The Knights were led offensively by
Brookelyn Madland, who recorded a game-high ten kills, followed by
Brenna Clyde and
Sydney Bassett, who combined for 12.
Nikki Stevenson continues to emerge as a prominent figure from the service line, leading all players with three aces.
Jessica Ensley rounded out the defense with 14 digs and one ace in the match.
Southern Virginia continuously improved throughout the game, increasing their hitting percentage in each set (.105, .214, .308) while the defense held their ground, keeping Mary Baldwin negative in their hitting.
The Knights look to extend their winning streak, traveling to Raleigh, NC, for a doubleheader weekend against William Peace and Christopher Newport University on Saturday, September 23. Game one is slated for 10 a.m., while game two is set for noon.
