BUENA VISTA, VA – The Southern Virginia University Field Hockey Team dropped a home contest on a rainy Saturday afternoon against the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College.

The Chargers scored early and did not look back as they were able to take an advantage on offense in shots and penalty corners.

After a 2-0 halftime score, the Knights came out of the half with a strong defense, but the offense could not get any opportunities with the Chargers continuing to put pressure on Southern Virginia for the rest of the game.

A goal in the final minutes sealed the win for Lancaster Bible College, but the Knights put up a great defensive effort with a goalkeeper debut from Makaila Gillardo who tallied five saves.

Southern Virginia is back in action when they travel to Ashland, VA to face Randolph Macon College on Wednesday, September 27th. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
