BUENA VISTA, VA - The Southern Virginia Men's Soccer Team continues their dominant start with a 2-1 win over the Royals of Regent University.
The Knights underwent a tough battle in the first half as both teams could not find their rhythm and traded possession, however, Southern Virginia was able to outshoot Regent, but the defensive effort from the Royals Goalie Conner Henriques kept the Knights from finding the net.
In the second half, Southern Virginia was able to accelerate their attack, eventually,
Ammon Lewis got an open look and sent it home after capitalizing off a great pass from
Benjamin Simister.
Just nine minutes later,
Benjamin Simister found a goal of his own and was assisted by
Jacob Cornejo to take a commanding 2-0 lead for the Knights.
The Royals returned with a penalty kick goal, but the Knights just kept putting up shots on offense with Southern Virginia outshooting the Royals 20-4 and ending the game with an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Knights look to end their home stand and non-conference play on Wednesday, September 27th when they take on the Bisons of Gallaudet University with kick-off set for 4:00 PM.
