Knights Cruise To A Dominate Victory Over Tornadoes

Buena Vista, VA - Following a significant victory over Mary Baldwin, Southern Virginia University (9-4, 7-0) faced off against Brevard College (9-4, 5-3) in their third-ever matchup. Infused with renewed energy, the Knights maintained their flawless conference record against the Tornadoes, securing a dominant 78-50 win.

Junior Alyssa Weiland emerged as the top scorer, amassing 16 points while shooting an impressive 6-8 from the field and 2-2 from behind the arc. The Knights showcased a well-rounded scoring effort, with four players reaching double digits. Ruth Kempler and Abigail Snyder contributed 14 points each, and Aysia Foster added 10 points to the tally.

Southern Virginia asserted their dominance early, establishing a commanding 10-2 lead with consecutive three-pointers from Maria Savvun and Snyder. The team maintained their lead for the next 34 minutes, capitalizing on exceptional shooting and robust defense.

The Knights displayed offensive prowess, accumulating 49 points in the second and third quarters. The later stages of the game allowed the bench players to shine, gaining valuable minutes and expanding the lead to as much as 37 points.

Southern Virginia looks ahead to tomorrow, Saturday, January 13th, as they take on Pfeiffer University for the seventh time in program history. The Knights hold a perfect 6-0 record against the Falcons.
