Lexington, VA – The Southern Virginia men's and women's track and field teams participated in their third event of the season at the VMI Invite, hosted by VMI on Fri/Sat, Jan 26-27.

The competition featured primarily D1 and D2 teams, marking our second indoor meet after the break and reaching the halfway point of our season.

Head Coach Kyle Chandler shared, "Andre Lucas had an outstanding performance in the Long Jump, breaking his own school record with a jump of 7.02 meters (23' 1/2"), which earned him the #17 ranking in the nation. The women's 4x800-meter relay set a new school record, surpassing the previous mark by about 18 seconds, showcasing improvement of over 4 seconds per runner—an exceptional highlight for the team! Additionally, the women's 4x400-meter relay broke the school record by about 1 second. Folole Torres made history by setting a new school record in the 300 meters. In the High Jump, Jayton Hall and Andre Lucas both achieved top 10 placements, forming a formidable duo. Notably, Lilly Dalebout contributed to the 4x800 School Record on Friday and then secured the #6 All-Time ranking on Saturday in the 3K—a remarkable feat on her birthday!
