Greensboro, N.C. – The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Greensboro College in a hard-fought conference match, dropping to 4-1-1 in conference play as the Pride climbed to 4-2.
The Pride struck early, scoring just 2:47 into the game off a corner kick that was headed into the back of the net, putting the Knights down 1-0.
Greensboro extended their lead at the 13:23 mark after a rare defensive miscue by the Knights, which allowed an open look at the net for a 2-0 advantage.
Southern Virginia responded with a pair of corners but struggled to convert, heading into halftime trailing 2-0. The Knights were outshot 4-2 in the first half but were even with Greensboro on corner kicks, two apiece.
In the second half, the Knights came out with renewed energy, limiting the Pride to just one shot. Despite outshooting Greensboro 5-1 in the half, Southern Virginia couldn't find the back of the net and ultimately fell 2-0.
The Knights will return home for another conference match against Pfeiffer University on Friday, October 18th, at 5:00 PM.
