Fredericksburg, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team faced a tough challenge in a non-conference matchup against the Eagles of Mary Washington, falling 2-0 on the road.
The Eagles struck early, capitalizing on a turnover in the second minute to take a quick 1-0 lead. Southern Virginia struggled to gain momentum in the first half, registering only a single shot in what was a tightly contested match.
In the second half, Mary Washington took control, applying constant pressure on the Knights' defense. Southern Virginia's goalkeeper made four key saves, but the Knights were outshot 13-0 in the half. The Eagles sealed the game with a second goal in the 71st minute, and the match ended with a 2-0 loss for the Knights.
