Newport News, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team faced a tough challenge on the road against No. 3-ranked Christopher Newport University, falling 0-5 in a non-conference matchup.
The Captains controlled the game from the start, registering eight shots and three corner kicks before scoring the first goal. Despite the Knights' efforts to adjust their game plan, shifting from short-ball to long-ball tactics, CNU dominated the midfield and won key challenges, keeping Southern Virginia from advancing past the center circle.
Chloe Miller made six saves in the first half, but constant pressure from CNU took its toll on the Knights' defense. Southern Virginia conceded another goal before halftime and three additional goals in the second half while struggling to generate offensive chances, finishing the game without a shot.
The Knights will now turn their focus back to conference play as they travel to face Methodist University on Saturday, October 12th, at 11:00 AM. Southern Virginia currently sits at 3-0-1 in the conference, while Methodist holds second place with a 3-1 record.
