Southern Virginia Women's Lacrosse Kicks Off Season with A Huge Win Over Goucher

Buena Vista, VA - In their season opener, the Southern Virginia University Women's Lacrosse team (1-0) faced off against Goucher University on Saturday afternoon. Kiah Baisden's stellar performance, netting five goals, propelled the Knights to a commanding 15-3 victory.

The first quarter saw Southern Virginia launch a relentless offensive onslaught, swiftly establishing a 6-0 lead over Goucher College. Baisden spearheaded this charge with an early hat trick.

Although Goucher managed to respond with two goals in the second quarter, the Knights surged ahead once again, scoring another six goals, with Piper Searle securing a hat trick of her own. Searle's fourth goal just before halftime extended the lead to 12-2.

The pace slowed somewhat in the second half, with both teams struggling to capitalize on opportunities. Nevertheless, the Knights added three more goals to their tally, including a decisive strike from Kenzie Poulsen, sealing the victory at 15-3.

On the defensive end, Baisden demonstrated her prowess with seven draw controls and nine ground balls, contributing significantly across the field. Addison England also made notable contributions, securing three draw controls and six ground balls.

Next up, the Knights will travel to the University of Lynchburg for a matchup on Tuesday, February 27th. With the team trailing 0-2 in their previous encounters, they'll be eager to secure their first victory against the Hornets..
