Southern Virginia Men's Volleyball Keeps the Sweeping Streak Alive

Stevenson, MD – Southern Virginia University (9-0,1-0) traveled north to play Stevenson University (3-4) and continue their sweeping streak taking down the Mustangs 3-0.
 
The Knights started out strong in the first set with a powerful 25-15 win. Having a total of 26 attempts, Southern Virginia was able to walk away with 15 kills and only 3 attacking errors. Samuel Candland brought some energy to the court for the Knights as he made his way back into the groove of the game. Candland had a total of nine digs, two blocks, and six kills against the Mustangs.
 
Stevenson started the second set out strong with a four-point lead against Southern Virginia, and created a lot of back and forth leads throughout the set. The end of the set was tied 23-23, but the Knights were able to take the set with a Sheaffer brother duo; Tyler Sheaffer had a kill to get Southern Virginia to set point and Christian Sheaffer put up a brick wall to end the set.
 
The Knights used the momentum from the stressful second set win to obtain the sweep in the third set. Southern Virginia continued to show strong defense against the Mustangs with Justin Madsen picking up ten digs during the match, and Kristo Bianchin holding a strong presence at the net with a total of four blocks. The Knights won the third set against Stevenson 25-19.
 
Southern Virginia Men's Volleyball looks to continue the winning streak as they prepare to take on Eastern Mennonite University at home on Wednesday, February 14 at 7 pm..
