Buena Vista, VA- The Southern Virginia women's tennis team hosted their inaugural conference match of the season, triumphing over Pfeiffer University. Ranked third in the USA South preseason tennis poll, the Knights faced off against the Falcons, positioned fifth.
The Knights asserted their dominance with a clean sweep in the doubles matches.
Paula Snelson and
Jillian Arnold secured their sixth consecutive victory as a doubles pair. Additionally,
Lia Savage,
Lydia Delich,
Remly Fry, and
Ella Dalby won their respective matches with scores of 8-3 and 8-2 consecutively.Â
In singles play, Snelson continued her winning streak, improving to 5-1 with a 6-0 and 6-4 victory on court one. Both Arnold and
Nadia Molanphy went to tight tiebreakers but were ultimately defeated. However, Savage secured the critical point with a dominant 6-0 and 6-1 win, securing the overall victory at 5-4. With this resounding win, Savage extended her singles record to 5-0. Looking ahead, the Knights anticipate hosting East Stroudsburg in non-conference action on March 18th, with the match set to begin at 11:00 AM.
