Ocean Isle Beach, NC – The Southern Virginia University men's golf team concluded the Pfeiffer Invitational with a commendable fourth-place finish. The tournament served as the spring season opener and provided a glimpse into the team's promising potential for the upcoming competitions.
Brogan Bennett led the team's effort, securing a top-five finish with a final round of 74. Michael McCaffrey also showcased his skill and consistency by finishing in ninth place after hitting a 77 in the final round. Nick Johnson made a notable comeback, improving his standings with a strong round of 75. Luke Wilson and Robbie Nielsen rounded out the scoring for the Knights, hitting 81 and 85, respectively, to finish tied for 35th and tied for 73rd.
Reflecting on the tournament, the performances highlighted a solid start to the spring season. The Knights demonstrated their ability to compete at a high level and will look to build on this experience as they prepare for their next challenge.
The team's next competition will be at the PTC Spring Break Challenge, hosted by Premier Collegiate Tournaments in Southern Pines, NC, from March 11 (Monday) to March 12 (Tuesday). This event will offer another opportunity for the Knights to showcase their talent and continue their competitive momentum into the spring season.
