Southern Virginia Men's Golf Concludes USA South Tournament with Strong Finish

Spartanburg, SC -  The final day of the USA South Tournament saw the Southern Virginia Men's Golf team wrapping up their performance with notable achievements and reflections on the season.

Brogan Bennett emerged as the Knight's standout performer, securing 4th place in the conference. The team also clinched 4th place overall. Bennett's remarkable performance included a stellar 2-under 70 on the final day, contributing to his 2-over total for 54 holes, which established a new school record."

Nick Johnson showcased consistent play throughout the tournament, recording three rounds in the 70s and securing the 4th best 54-hole total in the team's history. 

Head Coach Blair Garner reflects, 'Nick Johnson had 3 rounds in the 70's and shot the 4th best 54-hole total in history. Nick had some great holes. I'm excited to see him compete for a conference championship next year.

Luke Wilson concluded his collegiate career on a high note, birdying his last hole. Coach Garner acknowledged Wilson's leadership and foundational role in the team, reminiscing about his contributions since being one of the team's first recruits at Southern Virginia University.

Michael McCaffrey demonstrated remarkable character throughout all three days of the tournament. On Day 1, his 5 wood broke on the range, forcing him to adapt throughout the round. Then, on Day 2, he faced another challenge when a shot struck the flagstick and ricocheted into the water. Despite this setback, he showed resilience by birdying the next hole.

In the final standings, Brogan Bennett finished 4th with a total of 218 strokes (74-74-70), followed by Nick Johnson in T11th with 227 strokes (79-72-76). Michael McCaffrey secured T23rd with 244 strokes (82-81-81), while Luke Wilson finished 25th with 245 strokes (87-76-82). Robbie Nielsen rounded out the team's performance, securing 29th place with 254 strokes (87-84-83).
