Buena Vista, Va. - The Southern Virginia Softball team (8-16, 4-4) continued conference play on Friday afternoon against the William Peace Pacers (12-12, 2-2) and split the double header, losing 4-1 and winning 3-2.

Game one proved to be a stalemate until the fourth inning when both teams found gaps in the opposition's defense. The Pacers struck in the top of the inning with an RBI single that found a small window down the left line. The Knights responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning when
Sophia Badell hit a rocket down the right line for an RBI double.

The game continued quickly with an impressive pitching performance from Knight
Arianna Hall, despite the loss, she only allowed seven hits until the top of the sixth inning. William Peace got the better of Southern Virginia scoring three more runs to cement their victory of 4-1.

In the second game the Knights were on a quest for revenge. After a quiet four innings the Pacers opened the scoring creating a one run lead in top of the fifth. Then in the Knights final moments to answer in the bottom of the seventh, with one out on the board,
Emmaline DeGroot smacked a single into play. That single brought in the tying run to take game two to extras.

The Pacers responded with another run in the top of the eighth putting the pressure on the Knights. The Knights answered the call tying the game when
Katie Claytor slapped a single on the left side tying the game 2-2. Then
Sophia Badell stepped up to the plate with one out. Badell hit a clutch single up the right side for a walk off RBI bringing
Madison Lloyd around the bases for the 3-2 Knights win.

The Knights will continue their regular season play on April 6 taking on North Carolina Wesleyan at home.
