Morrisville, NY – The Southern Virginia field hockey team traveled to New York on Wednesday night, falling 0-10 to SUNY Morrisville.
The Knights started strong defensively, limiting the Mustangs to just one goal in the first half. Southern Virginia mounted a counterattack with three shots in the first 11 minutes, but Morgan Smith's five saves in goal helped keep the game close, ending the first quarter at 0-1.
As the game progressed, the Mustangs gradually broke through the Knights' defense, applying relentless pressure. Southern Virginia went into halftime down 0-3.
In the second half, despite their best efforts to limit shots, the Knights were overwhelmed by a series of Mustang attacks, ultimately leading to a 10-0 defeat.
Southern Virginia will return home for a matchup against Randolph-Macon on Friday, September 20th, at 6:00 PM.
