Buena Vista, VA – The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team fell 0-7 to the Randolph Wildcats after a hard-fought battle that included multiple tiebreakers.
In doubles action, the Knights put up a strong fight. A standout performance came from the #2 doubles team of Chase Rishel and Jared Pitcher, who secured a 6-1 victory. However, the Knights were unable to carry that success across the other matches, as they lost close contests at #1 and #3 doubles, giving Randolph the momentum heading into singles play.
The singles matches featured some nail-biting moments. Chase Rishel, playing at #5 singles, narrowly lost in a marathon match, 6-3, 2-6, 11-13, after a tense tiebreaker. Trent McBride also battled at #3 singles, coming up just short in a close 4-6, 6-7 defeat.
Despite several notable performances, the Knights ultimately fell to the Randolph Wildcats.
Southern Virginia now prepares to face Bridgewater College on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, in Buena Vista.
