Winning Streak Reaches Ten As Southern Virginia Women’s Basketball Overwhelms Pacers

Buena Vista, VA - The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team took care of business on Saturday afternoon to extend their win streak to double digits. On the strength of a season-best shooting performance, the Knights racked up the points on William Peace, ending the day with a 101-47 victory.

Southern Virginia rattled off the game's first 13 points in the opening frame to build a comfortable lead. After the quick start, there was a short lull before Addison Newman connected on a three to extend the lead to 18-1. Arguably more impressive than the Knights' shooting was their defense, which remarkably did not allow the Pacers a single field goal until 3:48 was left in the first quarter.

Aysia Foster enjoyed a tremendous first half off the bench, scoring 8 points and 3 blocks. Ruth Kempler and Addison Newman were perfect from the field, helping the Knights enter the halftime break with a 47-22 advantage.

The Knights continued to roll in the second half and seemed to make everything that left their hands. Abigail Snyder put together a phenomenal all-around performance, finishing with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in just 21 minutes. During a seven-minute stretch from the third quarter into the fourth, the Knights put the game away with a 26-3 run, highlighted by a relentless attack from beyond the arc.

Aysia Foster's six blocks became a career-high and led the team to a season-high of nine total blocks. In addition to blocks, the Knights posted season highs in several categories, including field goal percentage, rebounding, and assists. The win showcased another complete team effort and keeps the surging Knights undefeated in the USA South, revealing shades of their two championship seasons in recent memory.

The Knights put their 10 game winning streak on the line in their next matchup with Salem. Tipoff is scheduled for Wednesday, January 15th, at 7:30 PM. For the most up-to-date information and details on the team, visit knightathletics.com and follow @knight_wbb on Instagram.
