Buena Vista, Va. – The Southern Virginia women's basketball team continued their dominant season with a resounding 73-38 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan University. The Knights remain perfect in USA South Conference play at 9-0, improving their overall record to 15-2, while extending their winning streak to 13 games.
Despite a slow start, the Knights found themselves in a battle early, with the Bishops tying the game at 12 late in the first quarter. Maria Savvun gave Southern Virginia a slight edge heading into the second quarter with a go-ahead three-pointer, putting the Knights up 17-16.
The second quarter remained closely contested as the Bishops briefly reclaimed the lead. However, contributions from Aysia Foster, Abigail Snyder, and Saydee Allred helped the Knights regain control. Hailey Paige and Ruth Kempler extended the lead, holding the Bishops to just six second-quarter points and entering halftime with a 28-22 advantage.
Coming out of the half, the Knights' offense began to click. Addison Newman and Snyder sparked an early surge, with Snyder scoring seven unanswered points to push the lead to 41-26. Contributions from Alyssa Weiland and Newman helped close out the third quarter with a comfortable 45-28 lead.
Southern Virginia dominated the final period, scoring a game-high 28 points. The starters—Savvun, Foster, Snyder, and Kempler—fueled the offense, stretching the lead to 20 points before a barrage of four consecutive three-pointers, three of which came from Snyder, sealed the win with a commanding 73-38 finish.

Abigail Snyder: Led all scorers with a season-high 26 points (9-16 FG, 5-7 3PT, 3-3 FT), adding 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
Addison Newman: Contributed 11 points and a team-high 5 assists.
Ruth Kempler: Dominated the boards with 14 rebounds, 8 points, and 3 steals.
Aysia Foster: Recorded 11 rebounds, 6 blocks, and 8 points.
The Knights excelled in the paint, outrebounding N.C. Wesleyan 51-28 and outscoring them inside 30-16.
Southern Virginia now hits the road to take on William Peace University on Tuesday, January 28th, at 6:00 PM. The Knights previously defeated the Pacers 101-47 earlier this season and will look to continue their incredible form.
