BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team delivered one of the most entertaining games of the season on Tuesday night when they hosted Bridgewater College.
In a come-from-behind effort, the Knights held match point against the Eagles in the fifth set, but gave up the final three points to drop their final game against a non-conference opponent.
In the opening frame, both teams were streaky and traded the lead several times. In the latter stages, an untimely service error from Bridgewater spurred the Knights on to four consecutive points to claim the set.
Bridgewater flipped the script and took sets two and three in close margins, but had difficulty closing the Knights out in the fourth. While holding a 18-15 lead, Southern Virginia outside hitter Aubrey Packer took over, recording four kills in short order to force a decisive fifth and final set.
After relinquishing the first six points, the Knights nearly produced a storybook comeback. The Knights' middles of Macie Weatherly, Jordan Jensen, and Summer Hahn came alive, each recording multiple blocks at key times.

The team pulled ahead 14-13 after Packer's 24th kill of the night, a career-high. However, Bridgewater showed their poise and scored the final three points to steal the win.
Aubrey Packer's 24 kills is the sixth most in a single-game in program history. Gracie Fulton racked up 28 digs and got help from Baylee Savage who recorded a career best of 17. The Knights more than doubled the Eagles total output in blocks, finishing with 13.
