Southern Virginia Women’s Volleyball Secures Huge Conference Win Over Salem

BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball won its third consecutive game in league play with a 3-0 victory over Salem on Wednesday night.

The Knights were off and running in the first set, leading by as much as 11 points en route to a double-digit decision.

They boasted a well-balanced attack, with six different Knights able to register a kill. Ryann Vail managed two kills and two blocks to help the effort.

Emma Broadbent and Summer Hahn combined for four kills as part of a 6-0 run to give the Knights an even better start in the second frame.

Salem battled back to take a late second-set lead, but undeterred, Southern Virginia scored the final two points to put the Spirits on the brink of defeat.

The third set was a rollercoaster for fans in attendance. The lead was traded a few times before Salem forced a Southern Virginia timeout when they gained a 19-17. Once again, the Knights produced a come-from-behind victory, rattling off eight of the final nine points to clinch a sweep.

Aubrey Packer was incredible again by recording at least 19 kills for the fourth time in five games. Gracie Fulton led the defense with 18 digs and added three aces to lead both teams.

Looking Ahead

For their next opponent, the Knights will face another top-notch USA South competitor as they visit Meredith College on Saturday, October 25th, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Start time is slated for 11:00 AM.
