BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team kept their winning ways with a sweep of the Fighting Squirrels from Mary Baldwin.
The Knights were off to a flying start in the first set thanks to excellent serving from Talia Quinn. She kept Mary Baldwin on its heels with a string of four consecutive aces to extend the lead to 19-4.
Gracie Fulton tallied another ace to close out a dominant opening frame, 25-7.
It seemed everyone on the Knights roster got in on the action the rest of the night. A huge block from Gabi Hale and Macie Weatherly gave Southern Virginia a 20-9 lead in the second, one they would not relinquish.
While the third set was much closer, Debby Baker's squad was able to take care of business and secure a fourth sweep in the last five games.
Baylee Savage added five more aces to the Knights total to help them finish with 16 on the day. Ryann Vail had another impressive defensive performance with five blocks while producing nine kills.
Looking Ahead
Next, the Knights travel south to Raleigh for a tri-match with William Peace and Pfeiffer. They'll face the hosts, William Peace, for their first match starting at 3:00 PM.
