BUENA VISTA, Va. - It was a battle of teams who occupy the top two spots in the USA South standings and could have important ramifications for seeding in the conference tournament next month.

Despite winning the opening set in dramatic fashion, the Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team had their winning streak snapped by Greensboro College in a four set defeat.

Greensboro came ready to play from the opening serve, sprinting out to a 17-9 lead. However, the Knights showed resilience, outsourcing the Pride 18-8 the rest of the set to steal a pivotal early lead.

Jordan Jensen sparked the rally with a kill out of a timeout, and Aubrey Packer along with Emma Broadbent recorded several kills to overcome the deficit.

The Pride recaptured their mojo in the following sets. A balanced attack kept the Knights' defense, who was missing the nation's top blocker, Ryann Vail, on their heels.

They took the second and third sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-13 to put Southern Virginia on the brink of defeat. The Knights battled hard in the fourth, nearly producing another come-from-behind set win, but it was not to be as Greensboro clinched the win in four. 

Gracie Fulton and Aubrey Packer each registered over 20 digs and Ruby Blamires led the team with 24 assists. It's the first time this season that Southern Virginia has been out-blocked by an opponent.

More key matchups lie ahead for the Knights as the conference portion of the schedule is in full swing. Next, they'll hit the road to face Methodist this Saturday, October 11th at 12:00 PM.
