BUENA VISTA, Va. - It didn't take long for the Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team to stamp their ticket into the next round of the USA South Tournament, defeating William Peace in three sets.
It was a defensive clinic from the Knights, who used a dominant opening set to grab the early lead.
William Peace responded well to produce a tight finish in set two, pulling to within two points of a tie at set point for Southern Virginia. However, a kill from Aubrey Packer sealed things, putting the Pacers on the brink of defeat.
After falling behind 7-3 in the early stages of the third, Southern Virginia used a series of four-point runs to send Knight fans home happy, clinching victory in the third by a count of 25-20.
Anne Downs ended as the leader in kills for the Knights with 11. Ryann Vail was a force at the net, recording ten blocks which is a season high for the junior middle blocker.

Talia Quinn had a solid all-around performance, finishing with 16 assists, 14 digs, and 3 aces.
Looking Ahead
The Knights will remain hosts for the semifinal on Thursday, November 13th at 6:00 PM. It'll be a rematch of last year's tournament final as Salem College comes to town. They split their regular season matchups, one win apiece.
