BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team clinched a berth in the USA South Tournament final on Thursday evening, defeating Salem in straight sets to secure their spot.
The Knights quickly settled in front of their home crowd, claiming the first three points of the opening set en route to the early set lead.
Salem responded with their own hot start in the second, but it wasn't enough to hold off the surging Knights. Anne Downs recorded two critical keys late in the frame, ultimately helping the Knights to a 25-22 set victory to put the Spirits season on the brink.
In the third, it was all Knights as they cruised to victory in a rematch of last year's tournament final. It's the fourth time in five years Southern Virginia has punched their ticket to the championship match.

10 total aces from the Knights, including three from Baylee Savage were well ahead of Salem, who tallied just one. Jordan Jensen had a productive all-around game, producing seven kills on thirteen attacks and two blocks.
Looking Ahead
The undefeated Greensboro Pride will be the final obstacle between Southern Virginia and a fourth league title. The championship will be in Greensboro on Saturday, November 15th at 5:00 AM.
