BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team opened play on their home floor by hosting Guilford College on Saturday evening.
After an up-and-down game for both sides, Guilford came out victorious, 80-71, after a high scoring fourth quarter.
Despite a challenging season opener earlier in the week, Southern Virginia guard Abigail Snyder seemed to return to her All-Region form from a year ago, dropping a game high 25 points and adding four steals.
Despite holding a 16-8 lead at the end of the first, turnovers would be the Knights undoing the rest of the way.
Guilford recorded 22 steals and scored 25 points off turnovers, leading them to victory over the Knights for the second straight year.
Kensey Peterson of Southern Virginia managed an efficient outing, making four of her five field goal attempts, including three tres for 11 points.
Looking Ahead
Despite the young season, the Knights will be thrown into league play this weekend as they take a mini road trip to North Carolina this weekend. They'll face Methodist on Friday, November 21st at 6:00 PM.
Southern Virginia went undefeated against USA South opponents a season ago.
