RALEIGH, N.C. - Despite trailing after the opening frame, the Southern Virginia University women's basketball team regrouped for a dominant three quarters of action, leading them to a 74-51 win over Meredith.
It was the second game of a back-to-back for both teams, with each side posting wins in their respective conference opener on Friday evening.
A slow start shooting the ball for the Knights gave Meredith an upper hand in the opening ten minutes. They led 14-9 heading into the second, but Southern Virginia found another gear on both sides of the ball and quickly erased the deficit.
Kensey Peterson and Samantha Smith shot efficiently and reached double-digits in scoring. They were a combined 9 of 13 from the floor to provide quality secondary scoring for the Knights.
Anna Kimball was dominant in the frontcourt, grabbing 12 more rebounds and tallying three blocks.
In the middle two quarters, Southern Virginia outscored Meredith 50-19 to put things away in a hurry. They cruised to victory in the end as five Knights scored in double figures.
Looking Ahead
After losing the first two games of the season, Southern Virginia quickly finds themselves back to .500 after an undefeated weekend.
They'll gear up for a non-conference battle with Bridgewater on Tuesday, November 25th on their home floor. Tip-off in Knight Arena is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
