Greensboro, N.C.- The Southern Virginia Knights fought hard until the very end in close game with Greensboro College.
In the first game, the Knights had an impressive first inning with four hits and two runs brought in, jumping to an early lead. Continuing on this pattern, the Southern Virginia Knights added three more runs in the third inning, an inning highlighted by a Sophia Badell two-run homer.
The fifth inning held more success for the Knights, as they were able to score three more runs, pulling away with the lead 8-7. Morgan Rich shone in this inning specifically, hitting a double that sent two base runners back home.
The Greensboro Pride managed to make a comeback in the bottom of the seventh with two runs resulting from a double to left field. The Knights lost 9-8 in a hard fought battle.
In the second game, the Greensboro Pride kept the momentum from their tight win, and were able to overpower the Knights with a final score of 9-1.
The run in the second game for Southern Virginia came from a Malia Stauffer single, advancing Morgan Rich home.
The Knights will take on Meredith College on April 19th at 1:00 and 3:00 pm on their home field.
