BUENA VISTA, Va. - Southern Virginia University survived a thrilling matchup against Pfeiffer in what turned out to be one of their closest USA South contests in quite some time.
Thanks to a mid-range jumper from Abigail Snyder with two seconds remaining in regulation, the Knights remained undefeated against conference opponents with a 67-65 victory.
The action went back and forth from the opening tip, with the Knights leading for most of the first half. Aysia Foster was having an impactful afternoon and was perfect from the field in the early going.
Southern Virginia took a one point lead into the halftime break, but Pfeiffer continued to push hard in the final two quarters.
During an action packed final frame, the lead switched hands multiple times before the teams became deadlocked at 65 for several possessions. With just ten seconds left, a key defensive stop from Southern Virginia gave them a chance to strike.
After an inbounds, Snyder used a screen to free herself in the middle of the paint and drilled a mid-range jumper for the win, pushing the Knights' winning streak to six games.
Aysia Foster finished with a game high 18 points and Anna Kimball recorded yet another double-double. Snyder recorded 16 points to go with three steals.
Remarkably, Southern Virginia has won 34 consecutive games against USA South foes, dating back to February of 2024.
