CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team enjoyed its four hour drive back to Buena Vista after a 1-0 decision over Johnson & Wales, securing the Knights first win of the season.
Zack Snow received his first start in net for Southern Virginia and was called upon in the opening five minutes to make his first save of the day.
Each team posted four shots in the opening half, but none could find the back of the net.
Just over ten minutes gone in the second, Landon Lifferth found himself open after a pass from Zach Bartholomew. The freshman unleashed his third shot of the day to register his first collegiate goal and break the deadlock.
With over thirty minutes remaining, the Knights successfully protected their lead. Snow made another three saves to help them over the finish line as the Knights found themselves on the winning side of a one-goal differential for the first time this season.
London Timothy and Jacob Nielsen were stalwarts defensively, playing all 90 minutes on the back line for Southern Virginia.
