BREVARD, N.C. - Rescheduled from a few weeks ago, the Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team made a quick weekday trip to western North Carolina. Unfortunately for the Knights, they would return home after a four set loss to Brevard College.
After dropping the opening frame, Southern Virginia responded in the second to knot things at one set apiece.
However, Brevard won the next two sets by just a combined six points, handing the Knights their third loss of the season in league play.
In a rare occurrence, the Tornados had the upper hand in blocks, recording 13 to Southern Virginia's five. Anne Downs' 13 kills and 20 digs led the team, while Ryann Vail had one of her best hitting days of the season, also recording 13 kills while hitting .409.
Looking Ahead
The Knights will quickly look to draw even with Brevard, as Southern Virginia hosts them and North Carolina Wesleyan for their only tri-match of the season on Saturday, October 17th.
