BUENA VISTA, Va. - With a recent road loss to Brevard still fresh in their minds, the Southern Virginia University women's volleyball used it as fuel to post two wins during their only home tri-match of the season. They cruised past Brevard in three and outlasted North Carolina Wesleyan in five.
Game One
Getting even was certainly on the minds of the Knights during the first game of the day against Brevard College.
Southern Virginia used a 7-0 run in the first set to build a huge lead. They never looked back and trailed for a duration of just two points the rest of the way. Baylee Mirabal totaled four aces and Anne Downs collected 20 digs in the sweep.
Game Two
The Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan served as the Knights' second opponent of the afternoon. Despite falling in four sets to Brevard in the second match of the day, the Bishops came out firing against Southern Virginia.

They would win the first two sets, putting the Knights on the brink of defeat. However, the hosts were unrelenting the rest of the way and would reverse sweep the Bishops, taking the next three sets to go undefeated on the weekend.
Ryann Vail was masterful at the net, recording nine blocks to lead a quartet of Knights with at least five. Laura Forsgren added 28 digs, her best performance in a Knight uniform.
Looking Ahead
Southern Virginia visits Greensboro on Wednesday, October 21st at 6:00 PM before returning home for senior day on Saturday, October 24th against Meredith.
