BUENA VISTA, Va. - In the final home game of the regular season, the Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team recognized its three seniors, who were also treated to a sweep over Meredith to close out their career in Knight Arena.
The Knights enjoyed one of their most efficient days on the attack this season. They trailed for a total of just three points through each set and were led by Anne Downs who posted a game-high of 12 kills.
Senior Ryann Vail needed just 19 total attacks to record 11 kills and was a typical fierce presence at the net, collecting five blocks.
Another senior, Macie Weatherly, also hit over .500 and added three blocks to her day. The Knights' third senior, Laura Forsgren tallied seven digs as their lead libero. All three seniors will be critical pieces during the postseason that's just around the corner.
Summer Hahn had perhaps the most impressive individual performance, notching nine blocks as the Knight outpaced Meredith 14-1 in that category.
The win allows Southern Virginia to keep pace with the leaders in the USA South. The top eight teams in the standings qualify for playoffs, while the top four own the right to host their first round matchup.
Looking Ahead
The Knights will endure a road-heavy schedule until the postseason. They'll visit Bridgewater on Tuesday, October 27th for their next matchup. Gametime is set for 7:00 PM.
