BUENA VISTA, Va. - On the heels of a win at Salem earlier in the week, the Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team continued its winning ways by defeating Pfeiffer in three sets.
At the end of the opening set, Pfeiffer looked to snatch the early after surging to a 24-21 advantage after five straight points.
However, the Knights delivered a run of their own with two huge blocks and an ace from Anne Downs to take the opening set for themselves.
Southern Virginia seemed to get better as the night went on and managed to pull away from the Falcons late in the second, securing 13 of the last 15 points to put Pfeiffer on the brink of defeat.
Excellent defense at the net from Summer Hahn and Macie Weatherly forced their opponents into several attack errors, allowing the Knights to keep a handle on things in the third.
At match point, Clara Soulier put the finishing touches on another Southern Virginia win with her first kill of the evening.
Baylee Mirabal produced another stellar all-around performance, tallying three aces and leading the team with nine kills and 15 digs.
Looking Ahead
The Knights will remain on their home floor for their next matchup on Saturday, October 10th at 12:00 PM. They'll host Methodist, a team they split two regular season matches with a year ago.
