CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After wrapping up another day of finals at the Independent South championships, the Southern Virginia University men's and women's swim teams remain at the head of the competition.
The Knights racked up individual wins yet again, with Cody Higbee, Olive King, Caleb Dixon, Courtney Thueson, and Kate Black all adding their names to the winners' circle.
Emma Chamberlain won her second event of the meet, claiming the 400 IM in a meet record time of 5:02.48. Cody Higbee completed an overall sweep event for the Knights by claiming the men's event in 4:53.09.
Another record went down in the relays when the Southern Virginia women demolished the field in the 400 medley relay. The quartet of Olive King, Courtney Thueson, Jamie Horne, and Kate Black clocked in at 4:09.92.
Between team and individual events, Horne has finished atop the podium in four events so far and looks very much like the women's swimmer of the year that she was a season ago.Â
Final Day
The 2026 team champions of the Independent South Conference will be crowned on Saturday evening.
Currently, the women lead with 219 points, over sixty points ahead of second. The men are locked in an intense battle with Piedmont, trailing by just five points.
