CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It was a banner weekend for the Southern Virginia University swim team. The women's won the Independent South Championship for the second year running, and third time in their history.
The men's team placed a close second, racking up several individual victories which helped Holton Bundy win Men's Swimmer of the Meet. Jamie Horne was named to the women's award for the second time.
Final Day
As if the first two days of event wins and program records weren't enough, the Knights continued to rewrite the record books on the final day of competition.
Caleb Dixon easily swam away from the field in the 200 backstroke and demolished the meet record, touching the wall in a time of 1:54.72.

Courtney Thueson added another record to the weekend's list of achievements with her performance in the 200 breaststroke. Thueson clocked in at 2:31.92, nearly ten seconds ahead of her closest competitor.
Awards
Jamie Horne was named Women's Swimmer of the Meet, the icing on the cake to a memorable and award-filled career at Southern Virginia. She won two individual events, the 50 free and 100 fly, placed second in another, and was part of two winning relays.
As the Men's Swimmer of the Meet, Holton Bundy won all three events he contested individually and took part in all three relay wins for the Knights to cap off a mere perfect weekend.
The women's team dominated the competition all three days. Ultimately, they won the meet by nearly 100 points to emphatically claim a second straight team title.
Despite claiming the most individual titles of all teams, the men's group wasn't able to overcome the tremendous depth of Piedmont. Still, they finished second with 249 points, just 22 off the champions.
