ARLINGTON, Va. - The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team opened their season on the road against a challenging opening week opponent, Marymount.
The Saints came out on fire and managed to net four goals in the opening four minutes.
Southern Virginia goalie Savanna Burnett did her best to keep the vaunted Marymount attack at bay, ultimately recording 11 saves before the final whistle.
While the Knights would be shut out, many players gained key experience in their collegiate debuts.
Seven different players caused turnovers for Southern Virginia, while freshman Berkli Jones led the team with three ground balls.
Looking Ahead
The Knights will have an opportunity to collect their first win of the season on their home turf. They'll host Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday, February 26th at 5:00 PM.
Southern Virginia came out on top in their most recent matchup, defeating the Marlins 15-4 three seasons ago.
