VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team wrapped up a weekend tri-match at Virginia Beach, sweeping past Roanoke and Virginia Wesleyan in dominant fashion.
Match One
Tommy Forese brought the heat from the service line to help the Knights record nine aces to Roanoke's one during a three set victory.
They also played superior defense, getting multiple blocks from four players, including three from Jason Wang. They finished with a superb hitting percentage of .479, while holding the Maroons to just .139.
Ultimately, Trajan Wadsworth had the match-clinching kill off of a feed from Gehrig Tolman, while Forese led the team with 10 kills.
Match Two
Against Virginia Wesleyan, hosts of the weekend, the Knights staved off a challenge in the first set. Tommy Forese recorded three big kills in the end to help Southern Virginia take the set lead.
Brady Dastrup took charge the rest of the way, tallying four aces during two more decisive set victories. Mitchell Barney played well defensively, finishing with 10 digs while Gehrig Tolman guided the attack with 33 assists.
Looking Ahead
The Knights will resume CVC competition on Wednesday, March 18th when they visit Marymount in Arlington.
Game time is set for 6:00 PM. Southern Virginia holds a nine game win streak over the Saints
