HUNTINGDON, Ala. - After a lengthy trip out west, the Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team began their trek back east with a visit to Huntingdon College.
It was a successful stint down south as the Knights dominated throughout, securing a 17-6 victory to return to the win column.
After conceding the opening two goals, Kyle Boden got things going for Southern Virginia with his fourth of the season to cut the lead in half.
Freshman attack Myles Nielson began to take over shortly after, netting three goals in just over three minutes to help the Knights take a 5-3 advantage by the end of the opening frame.
The lead would only increase from there. During a dominant second quarter, Southern Virginia put seven shots on goal and scored on all of them, stretching the lead to 12-4.
Jace Lightfoot played well in between the pipes, making 8 saves to successfully defend the lead. Daniel Goold came in during the fourth quarter and made four stops for the Knights as well.
In addition to six goals from Nielson, Samuel Terreros and Garrett Zollinger recorded two goals each. Alfredo Hurtado and Kanyun Avner both caused two turnovers to lead the defense as Southern Virginia improved to 2-1 against USA South opponents.

The team returns to Buena Vista for two home contests next week. Next, they'll face St. Mary's College of Maryland on Tuesday, March 24th at 4:00 PM.
