Buena Vista, Va. — Southern Virginia University senior Zack Geertsen has been named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week, becoming the first player in program history to earn the honor.

Geertsen, a two-time All-Region selection for the Knights, played a key role in an explosive offensive stretch that saw Southern Virginia score 56 runs while taking a 2-1 series win over Mary Baldwin University.

Over three games, Geertsen posted an impressive .538/.556/1.000 slash line, going 7-for-13 at the plate. His performance included three doubles and a home run, while he scored six runs and drove in nine.

The Knights return to action Tuesday, March 25, with a midweek matchup against Regent University at 3:00 p.m. Southern Virginia will then continue conference play by hosting Pfeiffer University on Friday, March 27, at 3:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m.
