BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team ran into a stout defensive group on Tuesday, dropping their penultimate non-conference game of the season to Bridgewater, 13-0.

The Eagles managed to score on their first three possessions, putting the Knights in an early 3-0 hole.

On top of a lethal attack, the Bridgewater defense was just as much of an asset. Successful clears were difficult to come by which forced Southern Virginia into several turnovers.

Loni Rogers and Ellie Patterson did their best to flip the script, each recording five caused turnovers. The Knights also put six shots on net, but weren't able to break through as the Eagles relied on fresh legs, using three different goalies throughout the contest.

Savanna Burnett had several good moments in goal for Southern Virginia. She stopped numeorus shots early in the third quarter during a flurry of scoring chances for the opponent. Burnett would total 10 saves by the end of the night, her third time in double-figures this season.

Ultimately, Southern Virginia couldn't find an answer for an impressive defensive display from the Eagles, who handed the Knights their second loss in a row. 

Looking Ahead

The Knights will be back on the road Thursday as they square off with Wilson College in their final non-conference game of the season. The opening draw is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
