Southern Virginia University Women’s Tennis Wins Conference Opener Over Salem

Buena Vista, Va. – The Southern Virginia women's tennis team opened conference play with a commanding victory over the Salem College Spirits. Since joining the USA South Conference in 2021, the Knights have now earned six wins over Salem.

Southern Virginia set the tone early in doubles action. Lydia Delich and Nadia Molanphy delivered a dominant 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while Hailey Laird and Brynlee Weir secured the doubles point with a 6-2 victory at No. 3.

The Knights carried that momentum into singles play, winning four matches in a competitive lineup at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles.

Erika Read highlighted the effort with a hard-fought performance, edging out a 7-6 first-set win before closing strong with a 6-1 victory in the second set.

Both Brynlee Weir and Dalgleish battled through to earn three-set victories, while Hailey Laird sealed the team win in convincing fashion with a 6-1, 6-1 result.

Southern Virginia will return to action on Saturday, April 4, hosting the reigning USA South champions, N.C. Wesleyan. The matchup serves as a rematch of the 2025 USA South Conference Championship.
