BUENA VISTA, Va. - Back in front of their fans for the first time in in nearly a month, the Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team made the most of home court advantage Wednesday evening.
In control throughout the evening, the Knights dominated St. John Fisher in three sets to capture a third consecutive victory.
Five straight points to open the first had Southern Virginia off and running. David Ward looked dangerous, factoring in on the first two points of the match with a kill and block.
The lead eventually grew to double digits before another kill from Ward closed out the opening frame, a 25-15 decision to take a one set lead.
The Knights used quick starts in the next two sets to propel themselves to big leads. Nathan Mitchell was having a big day defensively, taking part in five blocks to lead both teams. Brady Dastrup was efficient, totaling five kills on just six attacks.

Mitchell Barney, who tallied 9 digs, anchored an impressive defensive performance by the team. There were several displays of great hustle to keep points alive, including a diving effort from Gehrig Tolman in the second which put the crowd into a frenzy.
In the end, it was Southern Virginia's day. David Ward finished with 12 digs to help the Knights to another sweep, improving their record to 17-2.
Looking Ahead
A gigantic heavyweight bout is on deck for the Knights, as they play host to the top ranked team in the country, Juniata. It could very well be a decider in who secures the top seed for the upcoming CVC tournament.
