RALEIGH, N.C. - The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team recorded its first win of the season in style Thursday afternoon over William Peace
The Knights produced a double digit lead by halftime en route to a dominant 19-1 decision, marking their first victory of the season in the league play and overall.
Ellie Patterson, Southern Virginia's leading scorer, found the back of the net first. But it was a newcomer who took control of the first quarter.
Midfielder May Webb scored three goals in under four minutes to complete an early hattrick, and help her team to a 5-0 lead after fifteen minutes.
The Knights enjoyed two more quarters in which they shutout the Pacers, while the goals kept coming. Freshmen Sydney Knight and Loni Rogers factoring into the offensive, each securing their first collegiate goals.
Patterson led the scoring, totaling nine points. Defensively, May Webb had a game high of three caused turnovers, helping Southern Virginia total 15 compared to the Pacers 7.
After racking up 19 goals, it was a seemingly picture-perfect start to their contests against USA South opponents, where they were projected fourth in the preseason coaches poll.

Next, another USA South opponent will be the challenger, as the Knights host the Lions from Piedmont on Saturday, March 7th at 12:00 PM.
