BUENA VISTA, Va. - It was a memorable afternoon for the Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team, as the group celebrated its two seniors in style after a 20-2 win over Brevard.
The Knights scored the first three goals of the game before Brevard found an answer, trimming the deficit to 3-1.
However, Southern Virginia then rattled off seven straight to lead 10-1 by the end of the first quarter. The two seniors, Ellie Patterson and Paysen Grandy, were a focal point of the attack, combining for five goals in the opening frame.
The Knights conceded just one goal the rest of the way during an extremely dominant performance. Grandy finished with four goals, tying her career best for goals in a game.
Meanwhile, on the heels of another record-breaking performance in her last outing, Patterson racked up another six goals and five assists. She also caused three turnovers to become the first Knight to record 50 caused turnovers in a single season.
With the win, Southern Virginia's overall mark is back up to .500, while they improve their record in conference to 5-3.
Looking Ahead
The Knights will have a few days off competition before traveling south for their final regular season matchup. They'll face Huntingdon on Saturday, April 18th at 11:00 AM.
