Knights Overwhelm Hawks; Will Host First Round of Women’s Lacrosse Conference Tournament

HUNTINGDON, Ala. - The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team extended its win streak to three games on Saturday afternoon, taking down Huntingdon College by a count of 21-6.

There was plenty of scoring in the opening frame, as Sydney Bastian's three goals helped the Knights build an 8-3 advantage.

The scoring didn't slow down after that, as Southern Virginia scored six more in the second while shutting out the Hawks to gain a 14-3 edge.

Paysen Grandy continued her torrid scoring stretch, adding another five goals to total nine over the last two games. In addition to Grandy and Bastian, Ellie Patterson and Sydney Knight also recorded at least three goals.

By the time the final buzzer sounded, the Knights had conceded just three more goals but added five more to finish on top, 21-6.

Ricky Richards led the team with five caused turnovers, nearly equaling the number of total turnovers Huntingdon caused.

Looking Ahead

The Knights have locked up the four seed in the USA South tournament. They'll host Pfeiffer in the first round on Saturday, April 25th at 11:00 AM.

Southern Virginia has won its first round matchup every season since joining the USA South.
