Southern Virginia Men’s Lacrosse Continues Winning Ways After Commanding Win Over Pacers

RALEIGH, N.C. - The scoresheet was filled to the brim again on Tuesday evening, as the Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team won its second game in a row, defeating William Peace by a count of 18-1.

In the first quarter, Jackson Haley found his Southern Virginia teammates at will. Haley tallied four helpers and scored one himself as the Knights jumped out to a 5-0 lead.

The scoring slowed down just a touch over the next two quarters, but Jace Lightfoot helped the team keep a shutout intact, making two saves as the Knight led 10-0 after three.

With just under four minutes left in the final frame, Davis Grant recorded his fourth of the night, capping an impressive performance for the senior. Grant finished with five points and caused three turnovers.

Daniel Goold made five saves in goal after replacing Lightfoot at the midway point. Four different players caused at least three turnovers, including Grant, Ben Sluga, Scott DuPaix, Britton Tidwell, and Fierce Miller.

Tidwell is currently second in the USA South in total caused turnovers, leading the team with 39.

Looking Ahead

Southern Virginia will close out the regular season with a visit to Methodist on Saturday, April 18th at 1:00 PM. The Knights are second in the USA South standings with a 6-1 mark. The top two seeds will receive a bye to the tournament semifinal.
